As a kid it was probably $30-50 a year or roughly a game a year.

When I got my first job as a teenager shot up to $500 a year as could finally buy the games I wanted.

University dropped it back down to $200 a year as got the games I really wanted, but scaled back.

Past few years it went back up to roughly $700 a year as have more funds to spend on hobbies.

The big point is never let it affect my life financially or socially so despite my intense love of gaming it is what i would consider healthy.
