Those advertisement exclusive deals helped propell the Xbox 360 last gen.  But if what you are saying is right, the COD system is only the Xbox (according to perception not actual sales) because of aggressive advertizing.   I think Activizon wanted it this way though.  They can piviot to Xbox for one game and PS4 for another.   It only worked out in Activision's favor because of PS4's inflated base.   By November they will be Xbox full force again with a full custom system.

Activision just keeps winning and they do it without accutally doing full exclusives.  EA should take note.

It's obviously the same on XBox with exclusive ads and stuff for Xbox.

I think CoD is a well known franhcise and excluisve ads won't do much anymore but for new games like Watch_Dogs, Destiny, Evolved (if it will get an excluisve marketing campaign for Xbox) and so on I really wonder if exclusive ads are really better as if you would mention all platforms in TV commercials.

It's not about gamers like us who don't really buy games because of ads on Television but about the average Joe who only buys what they tell him in commercials^^

I actually remember when they used to show all platforms on commercials.  It sounds one sided but Microsoft is to blame for that change.  They even had Final Fnatasy 13  Xbox 360 specific ads... which is kinda understandable but thats another discussion.
