What I always wonder with these deals is if PS4 version will sell so much more (I guess it will sell a lot more) because of the exclusivity deals or XBO version simply less. If XBO version will simply sell less it would show that gaming companies shoot themselves in the foot with these kind of deals.

I guess it's a little bit of both, many on XBox won't buy the game because Activision doesn't really try to sell the game to them and some PS4 owners will buy it only because they get bombarded with Destiny ads "especially for them".

Good question.  Its hard to figure out becuase the PS4's userbase is twice as large so even without exclusive advertising, its feisible to imagine that the PS4 would still sell more.   One could look at the massive campaigns of Titanfall and come to the conslusion that it would not have sold as much without the ads.

Yeah PS4 would sell more but many Bungie fans, multiplayer fans and Ego-Shooter fans are on XBOX so that the percentual difference should be lower. But yeah, when you don't tell Xbox users in TV commercials that this is a game they have to have, some of them won't buy it. That's the purpose of advertisement, to sell your product and to give people this "I need it" feeling. Doesn't work with every Xbox user if you won't mention XBox^^

Those advertisement exclusive deals helped propell the Xbox 360 last gen.  But if what you are saying is right, the COD system is only the Xbox (according to perception not actual sales) because of aggressive advertizing.   I think Activizon wanted it this way though.  They can piviot to Xbox for one game and PS4 for another.   It only worked out in Activision's favor because of PS4's inflated base.   By November they will be Xbox full force again with a full custom system.

Activision just keeps winning and they do it without accutally doing full exclusives.  EA should take note.
