They are not "nearly" the same. They are exactly the same. Not only exactly like other gaming fandoms but also any other fandom including sports, movies, books, political parties, etc.
Except for that one fandom who objectively chose the wrong console.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
