It is actually mandatory, I am a kind of ballif (oficial de justiça here in Brazil), I deliver citations, letters from the judge and execute judge´s orders like getting childs from one parent to deliver to another and retrieving vehicles or houses when people do not pay their payments.

I am told there is no such a job in America, but it is a civil (public) service in here: there is a test all people can take and the highest scores get the job for life.
