The Last Remnant, Very obviously been in development more than a year. Again, it comes back to your knowledge of the development process.

Really it's been in development for more than a year? Square Enix just licensed the Unreal Engine 3 on Jan 25, 2007, the game engine they're using to MAKE The Last Remnant.

Rendering was already done when the engine was licensed, or did you miss the screenshots? The engine is a PHYSICS engine, it's only necessary for gameplay. Many steps of development were begun long before then.

Fine, I suppose you can count endwar as the start of what's possibly a new Tom Clancey series, though it's subject to the same deal that development began a long time ago (They already had lots to show editors when it was anounced). I guess I didn't count it due to the fact that there have been 30 Tom Clancey games made (more if you count expansion packs). No that's not an exaggeration. It's hard to call anything Tom Clancey a "new IP" anymore.
