Well people who own a PS2 or only just purchased a PS2 in the late stages of its life. Do anyone recommend they should wait until PS3 has a huge library of excellent games and PS3 is into its fourth year of its life with a install base of over 40 million world wide? So 120 million PS2 owners in the world a great number would be holding off on their purchase of a PS3 mainly due to the lack of having a HDTV because they are expensive. Standard TV's are really cheap to buy especially the wide screen ones these days. Plasmas require 10 times the energy of a standard TV.Little or no interest in Blu-ray technology due to Blu-rays only looking good on HDTV's. PS3 is still at a high price- "Sony PR spin try to claim PS3 is cheapest console on market". remember PS3console is priced between $400US to $500US. "Cheap" 40GB PS3 does not play PS2 games. PS3 has a growing library of games of current and future games. A $200 to $300 price is fair more attractive to the average man on the street.

I would recommend that this person should wait for the PS3 and or get a Wii if you like the sound of a $250 console and Nintendo classic games. PS2 still has a good three years of life in it and a library of over 2000 games to play.
