This is why I don't see why that companies like Sega, Square Enix, etc, turn to a company like Kickstarter or do preorders for localization and as long as they get a set amount of preorders in a certain amount of time, then they will start localization of the game.

With as many interviews as journalists have with these higher ups, why haven't they ever mentioned the possibility of this.  Gaming journalists are stupid.

Yes let's start donating money to billion dollar corporations because they're too scared to take risks. Can't think of a worthier cause.

Except it's not donating when the game is already complete.

I dislike indie devs on Kickstarter because you're paying for a game that isn't out yet, hasn't started being developed, and you have no idea how it'll turn out.  I don't know how many times i've read about people getting screwed out of their money from donating on Kickstarter as well, plus many games people have funded turned out to be crap.

Yakuza 5 and Dragon Quest 7 are games that have already been released in Japan.  You're doing nothing more than an early preorder for localization.  Yeah it's because the developer is too scared to take the risk, but you're paying nothing more than the cost of the product as if you were to purchase it on day one.  A product that's already complete with plenty of gameplay videos and reviews from people who have already played it, so there's enough information on how good it is floating around out there if you want to take other peoples opinions and/or create your own based on gameplay you've seen.
