The FBI should not need to teach these people common sense. If _anyone_ threatens your life, whether it's in person or on Facebook or twitter, you get law enforcement involved. Often times, this also means shutting down your FB/Twitter account until things die down. Never just breeze over threats or get all scared and do nothing. People can be crazy, and you'll never know what they will do.
