Why are games so boring now-a-days?

I'm in a similar situation too... I have a such a big backlog that some times gives me a overwhelming sensation that affects my ability to turn on the consoles and play games. So I stopped (well slow down really) myself from buying games in early 2013, since then I did not progress much in killing my backlog. And now I have a backlog of games in my collection and a backlog of games I have to buy eventually. I realize, I like to buy games, more than I can play, still I can't shake the sensation that I must have them. Weird right?
