AMD didn't just release these 2, they also lowered some prices on existing models and released the 8320e for $147. Honestly, $147 for an 8 core processor is a pretty darn good deal. That's barely more expensive than Intel's i3 and cheaper than the cheapest i5. I'll need to see some comparison benchmarks for confirmation, but I'd guess that the FX 8320e would outperform an i3 by a pretty big margin and come fairly close to matching the cheapest i5, which costs like $40 more. And it can be overclocked, which neither the i3 or the cheapest i5 can. More and more games are being coded to make use of 8 cores now, largely thanks to PS4 and Xbox One. Might just use one of these in my next build.

You are pretty close to 100% correct.  I have been around all of these processors and I find that when all cores are utilized it goes i5 < FX-83xx < i7, and rest assured that all future AAA games WILL utilize all 8 cores well.
