if anything, if art is used to create change then that strengthens the significance and importance of art. What actually undermines it is your perspective of using it purely for entertainment. Art is meant to provoke thought and internal examination of not only yourself and the world around you. That often leads to change. What you seem to be advocating is the end of that examination which would actually be detrimental to society.
