The thing is that the wii u is doing so badly that even a niche thing, such as amiibo figures, has the potential of making a huge difference to sales.
I do think there's still a huge potential audience for Nintendo products and games. They just need to find way to grab the public's attention enough to make the plunge and by the product, which so far they've failed to do in significant numbers.
