i never said they didnt, now you are putting words in my mouth. Answer my question. I answered yours. Cause the only Ninty home console that really did gangbusters is the Wii, maybe NES but that was teh only game in town. So you tell me if the Nintendo gmaes themselves are that much great why dont the average console does much better? Hell SOny at its worse selling still manage to sell 80mil+ thats better than every Ninty home console besides Wii for comparison sakes. So the only logical conclusion is there was something different about the Wii that allowed it to sell that well.

You said so right here Oni:

"oh i agree with you, but thats the point of it all isnt it? People buy Ninty systems for Ninty games, BUT its not that many people. Fact is the fanbase for Ninty games isnt as big as some people want to believe. Otherwise Wii U would be doing much better and GC and N64 would have done better. And no people bought N64 for Ninty games as well, the writing was on the wall that all the major 3rd party stuff would be going to PS1 or at least they would get it first."

Then we both reasoned that Nintendo's portable line disproves that line of thinking. That leads to your question "What made the N64, cube and now U sell less?" and that is the million dollar question.

In my U will bloom thread, I explained what I believed would cause the U to bloom. I mentioned the price, I mentioned the games, and I mentioned the Amiibos. I honestly believe that Nintendo's popularity has grown since the cube days. True the U is doing poorly, but I believe the entrance fee is too high right now. I also believe that all the key games need to be out for the U to break out of its current state (60k). In contrast, I believe Nintendo's brand lost popularity during the PS1 and PS2 days due to the astounding popularity of the PS brand at the time. I don't think that popularity is as strong today, or at least doesn't hinder Nintendo's popularity as much as it did in the past, the Wii being testament to that.

that makes no sense. YOu just said portables disprove my thinking, then you turn around and say you dont know why n64 GC and WIi U sold are selling the way they sold. Maybe people rather just have those games on portables? as those systems are generally cheaper anyway and can give them their Ninty fix? The portable market is NOT the same as the home console their is overlap but i cant imagine its that much. So no it doesnt disprove anything as it doesnt really do much for home consoles. So why cant Ninty be just as successful in the home console space? Different audience? stiffer competition? people rather play on portables? all of the above?

@bolded on the contrary i would say the popularity has gotten WORSE. Where are you getting that its gotten more popular? prove it. Not with numbers because 3ds and Wii U are tracking below their predessecors, Wii U much more so. Hell from Nes on forward Nintendo's popularity dropped until Wii and now we are right back to square one so to speak. hell it might be worst than ever before.

Edit: @bolded 2, LOL what? Nintendo lost popularity cause it lost games, period. Every major 3rd party jump ship to PS1 when Ninty got to big to listen to anyone. How do you think PS got popular in the first place? Come on man open your eyes. Sony popularity is def hindering Ninty's otherwise it would not be kicking its butt the way it is despite having a year headstart. The only consolation is that it is more different to PS4 than xone is. So it could stand out better.
