I played 1.0 when it was first release from beta all the way until they destroyed it. Then I got in beta for 2.0 on ps3 all the way up until right before they released the patch that (finally) introduced housing. I honestly just got tiered of it. it got so repetitive and boring. I'm sure it has improved since but I have played a lot of MMOs over the years and it's honestly getting harder and harder for me to justify paying monthly subscription fees anymore. So now I usually stick to games that have free2play models.

That's not to discourage others from playing the game tho, I wholeheartedly suggest playing it for a trial period and if ya feel its worth paying for then go for it. As for me I spent a few hundred bucks on it since it first released in 2010 and then relaunched in 2013 and it just didn't seem worth it anymore. Especially after getting to end game and maxing all the classes in a few short months in both 1.0 and 2.0.

"got so repetitive and boring", and you say you played a lot of MMOs. okeydokie.

You're right about the improvments though. New content is added every 3 months in FFXIV. Compared to F2P MMO, that is like an expansion pack once a year if lucky.

When I played 2.0 it was before any major content releases and I got to end game very quickly. I understand and accept there is a lot of repetitiveness in mmo's but most will release content regularly, or at the very least switch to a better f2p model. They also pushed back the major update for like the third time and I just got fed up with it. It also exacerbated things due to the fact that they were doing absolutely nothing about all the spammers/currency bots at the time and it was usually the same ones in every town that would spam chat or send private messages. I enjoyed maxing all the crafting but other than food it was mostly pointless since you got the best gear in game elsewhere. So I got to a point where I was running in circles around the map chasing fates like a sheep or doing instances(which were awesome the first few times) for the 100th time. It just got too repetitive and boring to be worth the monthly fee.
