http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/796/796071p1.html IGN had a big report on the launch party. It seems like the party was similar to Blue Dragon's - not that it has any relevance on sales, or anything.
Namco had alot of stuff there for their other major games too - AC6, Beautiful Katriami, ect.
Namco was also quoted as saying that 30% of the first shipment was pre-ordered by consumers. Or atleast thats what I got out of it. If indeed 30% was pre-ordered, that'd put atleast 23k down for first day sales. After bundles and actual sales are considered, it could wind up with 30k~40k first day sales (which imo, is pretty good).
Reports/posts over at NeoGaf are very positive thus far, even if the game is very easy atleast in the beggining.
They are saying:
+ Has some of the best art direction of any video game, as well as incredibly beautiful
+ VA is very good
+ Fun, battles are kind of non-exciting at first (if you played the demo)
- Easy (as far into the game as they are)
+/- 30+ hours long
