NP :) SSB hit 5mil >_<

It would be a miracle if the Wii U outsells the GC in five years time. Doesnt look like it so I cant see Smashes sales going over 3-3.5 M if it launches anywhere near this time period.

Why wouldn't it top 3.5 mil?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl sold roughly 12 million units so why would Super Smash Bros. 4 sell one fourth of the sales? (Not to mention most hardcore fans of the series who got the chance to experiance the game early on said the gameplay was the best for the series). Also don't give me that bullshit that the install base of the wii at the time was bigger than the current install base of the wii u;

1. most of the install base were passive casuals who could give two flying fucks about a fighter.

2. most of the people who are going to buy SSB for Wii u are waiting for the game to release.

Thankyou everyone *leaves stage pissed off and knocks over waiter holding drinks*.

I dont think it will get past 3.5 million until it surpasses a 10 mil marketshare and gets somewhere close to 15 mil.  Tbone said 5 mil lifetime and I think that makes sense lifetime, but not in the first year. The Wii U is lacking anything outside of first and second party to sell itself to a core audience. Its numbers will rise slowly. Even slower than the GC I think because at least the GC had third party.

If I appear as cocky or condecending in the statements and in my market thoughts, that's just because I want to be as strait foward as possible

What you forget is that the wiiu already has a marketshare of 7 mil, and that SSB 4 is a system seller in its own right.

A point worth including is that  Super Smash Bros. has grown a large fanbase over the years and with the right marketing Nintendo could increase that fanbase expedentially.

Nintendo (like with most of the products now that I think about it) usually make a shit load of money of gimicky periferals eg. they differentiated the NES from the shitty Atari with R.O.B., the made shitloads of money off pokemon with selling their product through different forms of media and entertainment (pokemon anime, pokemon cards, two pokemon games etc.) they sold a shit ton of wiis with motion control. And now they have got amiibo, the 40 million install base of the 3DS is going to go out, get amiibo and SSB, get hyped for the premium edition of SSB on the wii u along with their now custom (compatible with wii u) amiibo figure.

In my opinion and it is my educated guess that SSB for the 3DS will act more as advertisement (along side with amiibo) for SSB for wii u.

However everyone is entitled to their opinion and their thoughts and I was genuinly interested  in reading them and merely wanted to express my own.

*walks back on stage to slap waiter and walks back off*.
