Its all about fan mentality. Fans of every platform believe that any "major" exclusive franchise on that platform will do wonders to the sales of the platform. Damn changing market trends or sales trends of said platform to hell.
Personally, I expect no more of a bump than what MK8 did for the wiiU. The increase in sales of the wiiU will be more due to the holiday season than smash. But forget I said that, nintendo fans would have us believe that smash sold consoles and ignore that during the holiday season all consoles get a bump.
