Sales trends....If you can see trends toward consumer purchasing habits on prior games, you can tell exactly what they're going to do in the future.
In Japan, Dynasty Warriors 5 launched on both systems. Which one did it do better on, in terms of sales and sales ratios? The PS3. Why? It was considered a big PS3 IP, and was advertised as such - the 360 version faltered because of it. Similarly, the 360 version is being touted as the bigger, better one. Not only this, Sony did specific promotions, and sales incentives (price drop, white PS3) the same week. If you've read ANYTHING about the GTAIV launch, Microsoft might follow suit in the US and drop the price to near-European levels. Guess what will happen then?
In the US, despite the PS3 just recieving a price drop, COD4 sold gangbusters on the 360, and the 360 still had an increase in unit sales the week of COD4 - despite the PS3 doing better thanks to that price drop. 5 months later, guess which one is still the US monster? The 360 version. Why? Despite 'Duty being a neutral IP, it favored the 360's userbase - just like Grand Theft Auto will as well (look at Assassain's Creed in the US for further proof).
Regardless of what you want to say, the userbase, image, and advertising all points to the 360. It has more GTA-friendly games on it than the PS3 does.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
