Vita is most likely profitable currently, but will only be profitable if Sony doesn't do anything for it. This is why we're seeing a bunch of small indie and 3rd party games on the Vita. At this point, Sony just wants to squeeze whatever amount of money they can out of the Vita with the least amount of effort. The PS (Vita) TV could help mitigate the Vita's misfortunes with its $99 pricepoint, but it remains to be seen.

 

I am not sure it is profitable, if they just sold the HW alright I guess they will... But they always give like 5 games away and atleast one from a third party and that must cost money aswell...   Also software sales are not so big especially when most got more Ps+ games than buying games..

Yeah, it's just a hunch of mine, but a lot of new games released on the Vita are 3rd parties meaning Sony puts zero money into them. This is especially true since Sony doesn't advertise those games either.

Indeed, well this the end of the discussion for me, I feel like they make no profit with Vita but I don't have any breakdown of the cost of selling a vita in a bundle..
