My thing is if the PS3 came from behind and caught up to Xbox 360, why can't the same happen the the Xbox One.

No matter how many people want the Xbox One to die off and go away it simply won't happen.

I will have fun this generation watching Microsoft take marketshare just like last generation.

The stradegy Microsoft is using is the difference.

Sony was buying up developer tallent left and right.  They didn't have to buy exclusives, they made them, and no matter what position they were in the cost was the same.  Microsoft is just buying exclusives.  The more the PS4 outsells the Xbox One the more expensive (rarer) these deals become and the higher the price as developers want compensation for the ever increasing opportunity cost.

This has been going on for years.  Most of us wanted Microsoft to beef up it's developement teams.  Microsoft took the easy escape plan.  They don't have to worry about what to do with developers if they close up shop.  They aren't tied to gaming using this stradegy unlike Sony.  They can easily just drop the section of the company at any time.  Buying exclusive is not a long term substainable stratedgy when your not the market leader.  It's a short term stradegy that you use when you aren't fully invested.

Add the fact that rumors have made the rounds that Microsoft is thinking about selling off the gaming division, spinning off the gaming division, the last stockholder meeting basically avoiding the Xbox causing concern, the Xbox One is already losing an insane amount of money, and the fact that stock holders want to drop the division.

I can see why consumers lack faith in Xbox One's future.  It still has great games and you should enjoy them.  Just like we all enjoyed the Dreamcast.
