What? The PS3 is by far the most reliable console ever made.... ever. The failure rate is insanely small. Your brother might have one of the 3 out of a thousand that have failed, but that is no where near the norm.
Also load times have nothing to do with reliability.
Lastly, I have never heard of one overheating. If it fails, it's mechanical.
