Not to 'solve heat issues', but to aid heat dissapation - the only glossy external surface is the hdd bay cover.

That isn't to say it would break if it were also matte, but the overall temperatures would be higher, which can reduce the lifespan of mechanical hdd's, and hey, if you can reduce the chances of a problem from happening with such a minor change, why not?

Get someone to take their cover off and take a picture for you, or pull off the cover of a friends, you'll see vertical lines passing down the inner side surface, that's because in the plastic itself, there are small hollow channels intended to aid the even dissapation of heat.
