| Baalzamon said: You have an extremely flawed view of the real world. While we don't know the age of this kid, first and foremost, know that under the age of 18, you don't own any property. I don't care if you bought it with "your" money. It isn't yours, it is your parents. Second, as a parent, you want to see your child succeed in life. Him sitting in his room all day, not working, and playing video games isn't succeeding. If that means you have to destroy all of his video games for him to realize he is a damn loser and needs to go get a job, then so be it. It doesn't mean you have a poor relationship with your child at all. It means you care about them. I'd say the kid is lucky in the first place that his parents just let him sit around for even 3 months without doing a damn thing but playing games. Also keep in mind I would most definitely be charging the kid rent to live in my place if that is all he did though, in which case he would probably get kicked out after a month anyways. I got spanked, I got my neck grabbed in multiple instances, and I got told I'm a fucking idiot by my father in multiple instances. So does that kind of treatment just mean we had a horrible relationship, and that I can never expect money from my parents because they treated me poorly? No, it means I needed to stop being a shit, and get my attitude in proper order. It seems to have worked, because I like to think my parents being harsh made me into a pretty great person, and my relationship with my father is the most amazing thing in the world, despite what some would call his "abuse" against me. |
Yeah... You've revealed far more to me than I wanted out of this discussion, so I'll just let it go.
