all of this would not be a problem at all if stupid consoles would not rely on official network services. Noone can fuck up e.g Borderlands 2 servers on PC because everyone can host their own server and join by IP.
The official crap is just there so they can charge a fee and have control over the players. (e.g shutdown old game servers to make players move to the next installment of the series etc.)
Its just a side effect when the servers perform better (If your "lags" its your own fault for playing with 56kmodem people on PC etc.)
I really hate that there is no "host own server" stuff that does not need PSN XBL WiiU etc accounts in case you just want to play with your friends. Let people that care about 100% cheat free, 100% ranked gaming sessions with strangers pay the fee and let everyone else just play with friends for free without any arbitrary requirement.
