They're all assist trophies now. Dark Samus, Mother Brain, even a Metroid. I doubt anyone from Hunters would even be considered. Look at the April direct. A lot of people thought that meant he was disconfirmed, but if anything it more likely he's in. I don't see how it's a stupid thing to say.

Well I know how much you want Ridley to get into the game, and I hope he does. But I want to say that Sakurai has earned a reputation as a troll due to his tendency to prank the community with misinformation regarding playable characters in the games. For example, a picture of Rayman, the not-Palutena trophy, saying Zero Suit Samus has been cut form the game, a picture of him visiting Platinum Games studio (Bayonetta), and he trolled the Chrom fans in perhaps an insulting way in the latest reveal trailer. And shortly after the Megaman reveal, he posted this with a picture of Megaman's Final Smash: “Pic of the day. Mega Man.EXE and Mega Man Volnutt!! They only appear for a split second, but the modeling is so detailed. And if that’s the case…!”

This type of caption with the picture brings hope and excitement that Sakurai is about to announce that Mega Man will have alternate costumes based off of other variations of Mega Man, like EXE and Volnutt. But nope, it was a complete troll as he then posts a picture of Megaman X with the following caption:
“…How can we not use it for trophy creation?!”

So given his amusement with trolling the fans, I wouldn't take anything for certain until we see it.

I know he likes trolling fans, but he rarely gives such a big room for doubt. On top of that, why would you purposely get a lot of people's hopes up for such a letdown. If anything that would decrease sales.
