The weekly sales mean nothing its the LTD that matters. PS4 from November 15 to August was at at least 10 million PS3 aligned launched about 4 days earlier that PS4 and buy September 30 it was at 5.63 million. The Wii launch aligned 4 days after PS4 till september 30 it was at 13.7 million. We don't have info on the PS2, but the PS2 first year was its worst and so it was vastly outsold by the Wii, since the PS4 is so close to the Wii its likely that PS4 is past PS2 as well. Further saying something like its not selling that will, is silly because unless you're comparing it to something it doesn't mean anything. The only thing aligned that sold aligned more than the PS4 aligned was the Wii, it is selling better than everything else. |
It is not selling better than everything else, not even close. It simply had a lot of pent-up demand. Right now (for the last few months) the PS4 is selling at a good but not spectacular level. There is nothing wrong with that. Your argument reminds me of the people who defended the 3DS sales: It was clear from the start the console would sell much less than the DS but people ignored the weekly sales numbers and instead pointed to the slow start of the DS. Same will happen to the PS4: Right now its LTD sales are up there with some great selling consoles but its weekly sales are very consistent and way below the Wii, DS or PS2.
