Destiny overhyped?

You're right I don't get it. I've tried to install vanila WoW a couple of times and I'm immediately turned off by how dated it looks and feels. Excitement for CoD wore off a long time ago and many who played the original Modern Warfare would probably share those sentiments. 

But since I don't get it I'm asking for specifics about this game. What makes it so fun to play? Why should people buy it?
