I know this thread is about favorites... but I wanted to look up the top 5 franchises sales-wise..
1. Mario 313.9m
2. Pokemon 156.2m
3. Grand Theft Auto 61.5m
4. Final Fantasy 58.6m
5. Gran Turismo 46.9m
I counted all the spin-off games too.. but wow. In case anyone was wondering, Zelda series has sold 47.3m followed shortly by Tetris at 46.6m. The highest-selling Xbox/360 series is, of course, Halo but its only at 22.4m.
