Erm, how old are you? I'm guessing quite young as you have failed to grasp what a mature story is. Have you ever actually seen anything for adults like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad? I'm guessing not as you spewed out that nonsense. You ignore complexity of the story, character development and the depth of the characters. How quickly could you sum up any Nintendo character compared to Walter White or Tony Stark? The storyine of any major hit TV show in the last few years compared to a Nintnedo story?

The issue is Nintendo offers very basic games and not many people want that.

Are you saying the story arc for the Links in The Legend Of Zelda or Samus in the Metroid series is "basic"? Do you think they're more "basic" than Master Chief or Nathan Drake? Lol.

Did I say Halo was more indepth? *rollseyes*  Now compare Link to Dragon Age or Beyond Two Souls. This is my point - on the other consoles I have choice. With Nintendo, you don't.

choice in what? just asking as I didn't understand you

also

"Most mature games have a better story and indepth character development"

so not true/just a made-up statistic/declaration of sorts

even if it was true story is just one part of games and just as a person might play a game for the story there are people who don't care for that (personally I am glad my platformers don't have story because I enjoy how I can just keep playing the game without constant interruptions)

EDIT: on a side note I can agree with the generalization that "Notable games on Nintendo consoles tend to not have as much story or character development as notable games on other consoles"

Donkey Kong, Kirby, and Yoshi games have almost no story, and they're three of Nintendo's biggest franchises. Mario games only have a story in spin-offs like the Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi series (and it's certainly nothing dark on the level of... idk, The Walking Dead or The Last of Us)
