I have not played seriously on a Nintendo platform since the N64 and I don't miss Nintendo nor am I interested in going back. My tastes have changed massively over the years, yet Nintendo have done very little to their platform lineup which is very stylised towards one, small audience. Every other platform has a wide range of games and styles to choose from - serious rpgs (mass effect, dragon age, dark souls), mmos (WoW, EvE a bagillion free ones), relaxed games, horror, fps, indie etc. Nintendo only has Nintendo styled (eg more cartoonish and less serious) games.
I'll put it to you another way; if I want to play a mature and indepth game, what would Nintendo offer me? How about a racing sim? RTS? Innovative indie platformer?

It's litterally impossible for nintendo to make an indie game. pikmin is an RTS. racing sims just aren't there style.
I understand that your tastes have changed, but once you grow up and realize mature games don't make you more mature, Nintendo really has a wide range of offerings as far as genres go.
