Simple. There is far less SW overlap if a PS4 owner buys a Wii U, as opposed to a One. There's also the fact that because of the sales gap, a lot of 3rd party exclusives that are on the One will eventually be making their way to the PS4, eventually. Of course, Nintendo also has great 1st party exclusives you can't really find a counterpart for elsewhere, like Mario and Zelda.
This is one of the reasons I think that Nintendo, if they play their cards right, can keep 2nd. I know I, and a few other people I know, plan on getting a Wii U when it hits $199.
