Remains my favorite and most played Metroid game. Essentially, it was an improved version of the original Metroid, which I also played heavily and consider to be the best game (or at least favorite) on the NES.
Good to see that the design and execution of the game has held up well over the decades for at least some of those who are playing it today for the first time.
