That's not really the concept of a secondary console, in the traditional sense. My PS4 is my main console because I buy at least a game per month (often more) and play it the most, both for exclusives and multiplats. In comparison, my Wii U is my secondary console, because I have it for the occasional game or multiplayer session... Depending on the year, I may buy 0-3 games for it. My Xbone is sort of a third wheel console, acting like a secondary console but getting a lot less use than the Wii U is.

What you are talking about is not a secondary console... It's just a second unit. Instead of expanding options, a second unit simply makes it easier to continue the same experience on multiple screens.

Mind, the PS4 excels with this through PlayStation TV, if you have competent internet.
