Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ps3 never sold as bad as wiiu or xb1 are at the moment, right? Also I was under the impression that people were interested in buying a ps3 but the price was too high. That's not the case with either xb1 or wiiu. I know I bought a ps3 the month the slim launched (september 2009?) because I didn't wanna pay any more than that for a console.
I could see MS turning things around by spending a lot of money on 3rd parties (that's not a dig btw) and with games like Halo 5, but I'm not sure wiiu can turn things around even with smash.
