The new SKU was a nice addition, but it alone doesn't account for the 44% resolution boost to both D3 and Destiny. That's irrelevant though, the fact of the matter is that MS have been sending out people/teams to help developers achieve 1080p. It obviously matters to them. Enough to force the downgrading of other versions? Who knows.
We know for a fact that the PS4 version was coming along better than the X1 version (despite the developer having more experience with DX). If the final products hits parity then we also know for a fact that they took away development time from the PS4 version in favor of helping out the X1 version.
I don't really care if it's directly MS's doing or the developers; i don't think it's right for PS gamers to receive a lesser product simply because the developer feels the need to work harder to make the most out of MS choosing cheap(er) hardware. They should treat both versions equally in their development time and effort (within reason).
That's how multiplats were treated last gen and i defended it. It was Sony's fault for choosing over complicated hardware, and for failing to provide better development tools for several years. Likewise it's MS's fault for choosing a relatively crappy GPU and a more complex RAM set up.
People have just as much a right to call MS out on it based on their perception of the evidence as you do to say they aren't responsible. Both parties are justified in their claims, and both are hypocrites if they claim the other to be unreasonable/wrong.
