The officer obviously saw brown was unarmed. He may have feared an ass whippin', but I doubt he feared for his life. 

If the officer feared for his life then maybe he isn't suited for that type of work.

Why 6 shots? Why aim for the head?

If that's regular protocol for the officers then things need to be changed. 

What really pisses me off is all these idiots rioting like it's going to make a difference. Yeah, let's rob some stores and beat people up that had absolutely nothing to do with it. 

You can't speculate that someone is unarmed just by looking at them.  Usually criminals will conceal their weapons not openly brandish them.  Also if you fear someone will take your life or inflict serious bodily harm (as you said he may have feared an ass whippin) that is a legal reason to kill someone.  From what I've heard the officer was assaulted and Brown tried to take the his weapon, if this is the case the officer was most certainly justified in the shooting.  The number of shots doesn't really matter, the officer likely shot very rapidly until he saw that Brown was no longer a threat.

I could be wrong on the above because I haven't followed the story closely, I'm going to try to dig up all the known facts and statements of the people involved after work.

I agree with you that the riots are ridiculous.  People are jumping to conclusions that this was a racially charged shooting, people like Al Sharpton need to stop acting like everything is always about race.
