Eh, a 2D anime would act as a great (and somewhat cheap) supplement to a live-action version.

Think of it this way, Final Fantasy VI and its story is absolutely perfect for an anime. The fact that it was an SNES game would really drive the point home. FF VII, considering how it was presented, leans into live-action/3D animation because grafix.
