They would lose a shit ton of money if they gave exclusive DLC. We'll see, but EA would be idiots if they gave any noteworthy DLC only to subscribers.

That being said, if it's only a few costumes or non-essentials, who really cares?

Some kind of already do this, though. Preorder X version of X game and get the X DLC FREE! And they wouldn't be idiots, because people WOULD pay for exclusive DLC. Because they already do, just in different forms.

You're putting a lot of faith in these companies to believe this concept wouldn't be abused, especially when EA and Ubisoft don't have a great track record as it is. Why is it in any way good for the consumer to be gated off from content, even what you consider non-essentials? Just because it's a 'choice' to pay for a subscription doesn't mean it's inherently a benefit to us.

You can get the DLC free, but you can also buy it seperately if you don't pre-order the game.

I can see people getting free DLC with the subscription, but exclusive? Nah. EA will sell the DLC seperately for people who don't care about the sub, and they can buy it just like they always have.

I don't trust the companies, but I do know exclusive major DLC would be stupid in terms of finances.
