Well ... yes. I wouldn't say 'offended', but IF we're talking about a writer or editor who dealt with information pertaining to the game in question, that's a conflict of interest. It's no different than if EA or Activision gave "funding" to a gaming news site right before that site wrote something positive about them. That would be up for public discussion, as well, and rightly so.
