1. Rare never released anything on time.

2. Rare was a money PIT, since they'd sponge money out of Nintendo to get their games finished.

3. Their quality was in decline for a while.

I personally enjoyed SFA, but I think I was the ONLY one. Meanwhile, Rare was supposed to have released Kameo and DK Racing on the GC but never got around to it.

Combine that with the god-awful "Grabbed by the Ghoulies" and the poorly-done Conker port, the lackluster Kameo and the about par PD0 (yes, I've played them), why would Rare have been worth keeping?

I was against their purchase when it happened, but after seeing what they've produced since then, I don't feel Nintendo owners have missed out on anything (maybe Viva Pinata, but even that was hit or miss).

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
