I have no problem with this practise. I loved Dante's Inferno despite it being a God of War rip-off. I enjoy games because I'm a gamer, not a sony gamer. Like I said, I like Amiibos and have no problem with Ninty copying a seemingly good idea.

Honestly this whole notion that it's bad to copy something that works from another company is so ridiculous.

For example, I've seen people several times complain that Sony copied the analog stick idea from Nintendo, I mean what? Should all other companies just stay away from analog sticks because Nintendo had them first? How horrible would that be? Analog sticks are awesome on controllers.

Or when they try to copy some game franchises. So? Who gives a crap? You don't have to buy it and who knows, maybe the copy turns out to simply be an awesome game. For example Crash Team Racing, clearly inspired by Mario Kart and still a game dearly loved by tons of people.

Companies copying each other happens in every industry and there is nothing inherently bad about it.

Couldn't agree more. Also, just because you copy something, it doesn't mean it will turn out to be either good or successful. Wasn't Pokemon inspired by another game in which you raise animals? Who cares? Pokemon is awesome.
