Again, not even close. That's another invalid comparison and an oversimplifcation of the situation with Tomb Raider.

Tomb Raider is a franchise known by the vast majority of gamers. Whether you like it or not, if you are a gamer, you've heard of it. It has a history of around 17 years on playstation consoles. Just like Metal Gear and Tekken, the franchise is associated with the ps brand and found most of its success on ps platforms. Anyone who has bought a ps console would expect Tomb Raider to be released on his console. This is a huge franchise with many loyal fans. One of the best selling franchises of all time. People would buy a console for it the same way that they would buy one for Metal Gear (see ps3 sales and MGS4). As a fan you know what to expect. The franchise has proven itself over the years both in terms of sales and quality.

Then you have an indie game, which is also a completely new IP. A game that could turn out to be a disaster. A game that may sell horribly. It's a huge gamble because it can go either way. But the point is that it's not an establised franchise that xb fans would expect to come to their consoles. It has yet to prove if it can move consoles. Non hardcore gamers like us who spent their days on forums have not even heard of it.

If MS were to fund Hellblade, I'd have no problem. Sure, it would be from the team of Team Ninja that made a ps cult favourite, but it would still be a new IP. If Platinum games were developing Wonderful 101 and Ninty paid them for excusivity, I'd still have no problem. Again, new IP. That's not the case with Tomb Raider, though, now is it?

New IP, old IP, doesn't matter, the definition of moneyhatting remains the same. And if you want an old IP that was moneyhatted by Sony, look no farther than GTA on PS2 (timed exclusive for III/VC/SA).

Point is, Sony paid to have a game come exclusively to their platform, and not to others. If they felt Tomb Raider was so important to PS gamers, they could have paid for the development, publishing, and advertising like MS did. The end. Moneyhatting is moneyhatting, and they've both done it, whether it be to get an entire game or some exclusive content.
