Sony recovered from theirs and nothing serious came of it. It hurt them short term but they still ended up selling about the same amount of consoles as they would have anyway. Xbone reveal started the bad press (and the preceding rumors) but E3 is where Sony slit their throat. After the Xbone reveal most thought Sony would follow suit it was at E3 when they shocked everyone including MS that MS started their backpedaling and got the backlash that put them behind the 8ball. I mean I thought Sony would outsell them without all the PS3 disadvantages anyway but 2:1 and winning in the states is probably due to the reveal-E3 combo
