Bying timed exclusivity has been going on since the NES era, not really a new practice :). Well, it does indeed add something. It adds a competitive element to the X1 that PS4 will not have, even though it is a timed exclusivity deal. I think what Phil is getting at is that MS can then market X1 as the only place with both an exclusive FPS in Halo 5 AND and exclusive TPS in TR next fall. Perception is everything. |
No, in the NES area the deal was, if you publish a game on the NES you do not publish any version of it on a competing system, Nintendo did not buy the exclusivity deals, however they got royalties on all sales, just like platform owners do on modern consoles.
I don't think you know what actually adding means, it would add something if MS went on and MADE a new game (or got a studio to make one from scratch for them), in this current form they do not give anything to either their clients, you would have gotten the game anyway if you have an xb1 or a 360, and they take away from PC/PS owners, at least temporarily... the only "value" you have are talking points when trolling in discussion boards.
