Dr.Henry_Killinger said: =_= It doesn't matter, you can't stop piracy only stymie it. I never suggested they where gonna use PSP's Code, thats why I flat out said that cracked firmwares and downgrades to those formats easily makes an updated codebase practically meaningless. Most codebase alone, is peanuts to any seasoned hacker If a pirate wanted Vita games and it used standard unformatted memory, all they would need to do is not update. At least with a formatter, they need to decrypt the games and then encrypt in the propreitary format of the storage, which is a lot more trying cause thats 3 walls of security rather than one. And if your referring to the PS3, you are clearly mistaken, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OtherOS Hardy http://www.computerandvideogames.com/300180/otheros-returns-to-ps3-via-hack/ http://www.ps3news.com/ps3-hacks-jailbreak/ps3-rsx-driver-is-released-for-freebsd-via-otheros-cfw/ Har https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20121025/12413220829/final-sony-ps3-hack.shtml http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2012/10/25/sony-ps3-hacked-for-good-master-keys-revealed/ Har The main cause of the infamous PSN hack was because Sony removed OtherOS from the PS3, because it was being used as a backdoor. No problem indeed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Network_outage

Does the PS3 have a wide-spread hacking problem like the PSP had, now? No? That's what I thought.
After Sony removed Linux support and updated the firmware to seal off potential threats, everything was mostly fine. There is still a bit of homebrew here and there, but nothing to the extent of the PSP, not even close.
Once again, the DS was proprieetary and it still got hacked, while the 3DS is just fine (at least not as bad as the PSP). Sony being heralded as a better hardware company, I'm sure they could have designed the system better than the PSP.
And the Vita uses downloaded games as well, if they were so worried about the storage format why allow people do download it on solid state memory? Hackers have easily accessed such memory in the past as well, whether it be recognized by a PC or not.
No, this was about getting the extra dime out of the consumer.
You're Gonna Carry That Weight.
