Please explain how a device copying another makes innovation invalid. If anything it makes it more valid since adoption is one of the prerequisits for innovation.
I guess PSMove made Wii's innovation invalid too.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
