I travelled to Australia in 2000 for the Olympics and everything was cheap for me as it was 2 AUD to 1 USD. I think the game companies really haven't changed their perspective since then.
One thing people fail to realize as they compare US to other areas is the tax. The AUS prices always include 10% GST as well as other taxes. Europe is the same way. The US prices that everyone refer to fial to include the sales tax as they vary by state. I think they are 4%-10%.
Still Aussies are getting screwed. Canadians and Europeans too.
The consoles are made in China, whose governent has maninpiulated their currency. So the console makers aren't lossing in the US and are gaining everywhere else.
Final* Word on Game Delays:
The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.
Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.
Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.
