Nope... sony probably considered having a screen on the controller... and |i wouldn't be surprised to see a DS4.5 sometime during this gen where they actually make that touch pad a screen too.

You realise how small that screen would be? Unless they went the Wii U route which is highly unlikely. DS4 can't have a screen.

You did be surprised... try something. if you have a smartphone, put it in your hand, then open an app or something atht will allow the onscreen keyboard show up. You know, what you type on. Now look at the area that keyboard covers, you will find that its practically the same size with the PS4 touchpad.

Basically, if they had made a monochromatic screen... like black and white or something that would have allowed a keypad appear if you wanna type or very basi game information like helth and ammo count or a map it would work perfectly. I am not talking about a screen to use for remote play.

Sooo... like the Dreamcast screen, but with touch controls?

This would be a lot more aesthetically pleasing, though (but probably sadly impossible)

exactly.. for reference this has a screen diagonal of 2.14" and rez of 480x360

And the PS4 touchpad, and only talking about the square part not including the curved part that on top has diagonal of 2.34". Bigger than what you have in a BB bold, theough the apsect ratio is differnt (bold is more square and PS4Tp is more wide). If you aske me, not making that a 480x360 rez color screen or something like that is a major missed opportunity by sony. They could have even completely done away with teh share and menu buttons and let those just be zones on an even bigger touchpad/screen.

Then again the controller would probably have cost $100 on its own.
