This gen is totally paramount to the future of the industry. If it's a success then we'll continue to see ambitious, groundbreaking titles. If the market has shrunk too much then we're gonna enter a dark age of mobile/tablet gaming. That's how I see it at least.
The PS4 has been doing decently, but considering the underwhelming reception of its competitors it's not exactly a messiah. The Xbone could still be a bit of a sleeping giant - Microsoft certainly has the funds for it. I'm hoping the positive changes they've made will pick things up and make it a very successful machine.
It's way too early to call this gen crazy successful right now, considering two out of three are way under par. But here's hoping this time next year we can say it.
